PhD STUDENTCarmen Hidalgo

Carmen studied Chemistry and Materials Engineering and a Master’s degree in Advanced Studies in Chemistry at the University of Seville. She is now starting her PhD funded by a FPU fellowship.

Her tasks within the group are quite diverse. Along with Sol, Carmen manages the laboratory, maintains the chemical inventory, and oversees laboratory safety. She is also responsible for conducting DLS measurements for group members who need them, and for organizing and performing SAXS and WAXS measurements, techniques that allow for measuring particle size and crystallinity, along with radioluminescence.

Her PhD thesis work consists of the synthesis of MOFs for X-ray detection. The idea is to take advantage of their porosity to introduce materials that enhance this detection.
